I recently swapped out my K24A2 head for a mildly built K20Z3 head with GSC Beehive Springs and Titanium Retainers. After the install when I went to start it, it was running horribly and upon inspection I found my 50 degree VTC gear had failed. Since I've been chasing timing gremlins on this engine since I swapped it in, I decided to quit being cheap and go ahead and replace everything. A few hundred later and I now have a new OEM 50 degree VTC along with a timing chain, tensioner, and lowes chain stay from Drag Cartel.
While I was doing it, I decided to go ahead and do a step by step of the install. Some of the steps are specific to changing the chain in a CRX, however most of it is pretty universal. I didn't film the reassembly steps however it's just reversing the disassembly. Anyway, on to the video!
Note: In the video I don't explicitly show putting the tensioner back on. You definitely need to reinstall it after replacing the chain!
